how does the racetec core compare to the Garrett? it seems racetec have put thought into making their IC.

say with say the ATP, Garrett IC, http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=INTdoes anyone have a write up on installing it, is it hard work to make up own install pipes etc? Maybe 034Motorsport would sell their kit using this smaller garrett core if asked them really nicely? But the bigger garrett core they already offer in the kit is probly better anyway (more heatsink for street car, not much more pressure drop).

you dont want the custom kit that people make with random bends. It has to many connections and that causes turbulence and disrubts airflow. If you want, Issam will sell you just the piping for the INA kit and you can install a smaller core if you wish.

I would be interested to know, how HP would compare between asmallerIC suffering from typical heatsoak in hot weather-streetcar, and a larger (not heatsoaking) IC that has say a 1 psi greater pressure drop than the smaller IC? How much power lost with heatsoak, how much lost with 1 psi drop?

I also heard that if there is a pressure drop it can be compensated for by upping the boost, would I be able to easilyup the boost using Unitronic software?

I'm trying to decide between the smaller but adequate Racetec, or a bigger 034.

The cooler iat would more than offset a psi or 2 of pressure drop. On a turbo that doesnt have a problem making boost, increasing the psi with a mbc isnt a big deal no matter the sw. Go with the 034 with a great garrett core. Since that core is a 500hp core, you shouldnt see any big pressure drop

thanks, yes the 034 looks good, just one more issue tho, I'm not sure if how well it will fit, the 034 is for the USA, my bumper is Australian - probly like the euro.

one of the guys on the zine uses a racetec with apr 3+ (b6) tuned with lemmiwinks...... even during the summer, his IATs stayed within 5-7 degrees of ambient... i ended up getting a new racetec shipped for $800...

i just wished the pipes were polished on it...

you would probably have more room since US safety is so strict

I found the euro is less roomy than the North Americans, so the Racetec is an option for me, but I also found this one, http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...att_Iliketurbo- see the AutoSpeedPerformance post. Seems to have different amount of heatsinks, what do you think of their core quality, reputation vs the racetec?

thank you
