Intake? Hissing!

RE: Intake? Hissing!
alright, so while doing some reading for another problem I found something kinda interesting, this was on a TDi Jetta so I am not sure if it applies, but apparently a cracked hose around you EGR can cause a whistling effect under acceleration?
maybe this is the culprit?

UpstateNYA4 has the same sound. he also can't do the seafoam because the vacuum won't suck. we think the hissing sound is related but haven't found out the problem yet. hopefully a tech can tell us what happens and solve 2 people's problems at once.

My A4 makes a high pictched hiss too, especially noticable under bridges. Only, I get a "Psssh" sound when letting off the gas. I hope it's nothing major...
Okay, on a more serious note, on my old 97 NA Eclipse, I hod a small split in an intake hose somewhere and sounded an awful lot like a turbo when I gave it gas...
I'm gonna go with CAB509 and 2nd this as a possibility.

RE: Intake? Hissing!
When I turn my car off I can hear a "Psssshhh" sound from my engine (12v). It has done this since I got it a couple months ago. I found a vac line that has started to deteriorate and I am assuming that the sound is air escaping from the line. I have not heard it when I am in the car and the engine is running though, but I will run it and open the hood tomorrow and see waht I find.
