Default Intake? Hissing!

When I hit the gas there is a hissing sound like the car is gasping for air... though I don't know if it's sucking in or blowing out... it hisses and then the gas kicks in

UpstateNYA4 has the same sound. he also can't do the seafoam because the vacuum won't suck. we think the hissing sound is related but haven't found out the problem yet. hopefully a tech can tell us what happens and solve 2 people's problems at once.

I've heard of a couple instances where the V6 sounds like it has a spooling turbo when under acceleration but no one seems to know how to fix it, but it doesn't seem to harm the engine at all.

maybe it's a hose ? i wouldn't have the slighest idea how to figure out where a leak is though... especially if the vac doesn't suck :-\ as i mentioned in another post this car sat for 2.5 months in the harshest part of winter in the northeast.. it was constantly buried under snow and never started... before it was parked it ran like a dream.. perfectly and smoothly... and there is no evidence of animal damage anywhere... but maybe something cracked.. for us both?

on another note.. i had previosly pulled apart one of the little vac lines right above the throttle body and there was extremely minute power in the line even when gunning the engine

one more thing, i haven't been able to get any answer for this... if I drive the car 20 or so miles a day while the vac line is possibly fubar, the throttle may be fubar, and there may be a chance there are some misfires... will it harm the engine? I let it idle for like an hour today and drive it around the driveway.. it's hella more responsive than it used to be but its still *****.

so can the bad vac and possible misfires do any damage with minimal driving?
