Default Instrument Cluster...Bulb removal????

Can anyone tell me how to remove the bulbs for my ABS light and Brake lights that are located in my instrument cluster? 99a4

Think this would cause any electronic issues with doing this...

There are no bulbs, they are LEDs. So you can take the cluster apart and desolder the leds. To take the cluster out you pull off the trim right beneath the cluster and just above the steering column, then there are two screws right there, remove them and the cluster can come out. There is a writeup you can search for, the connectors are kinda unusual but they are pretty self explanatory once you see them I think. There is no writeup to removes leds but it shouldnt be too hard.

does anyone know where this writeup might be? For instance, how can I access the leds.

If you have a newer cluster (maybe 98+), and have LEDs instead of bulbs, its unlikely the LED burnt out, I would check your ebrake switch and wiring first. If you have an older cluster with bulbs than that could be a possibility.

The only reason I suspected the bulb is because when i first turn the key, all the dash lights turn on for a second except the ebrake light. Can anyone verify if the ebrake light is also supposed to light up when you turn the key? Obviously the ebrake should not be engaged to see if the light turns on.
