Open the door and remove the little screw in the molding, towards the front of the door. From there, just rip it off. You might need to replace some of the plastic clips under the molding as they tend to break.

the molding should slide forward and come off after the screw is removed. No need to "rip" it off... Be nice to your baby.

Bah. Rip it off! The dirt and grime over the years makes it difficult to usually slide off, they can be a real btch. Rip it off!

with all that rust on the back side of the molding, you're more likely to shred the paint behind it if you slide. maybe not rip so much as gently wiggle it off. it really should just pretty much fall off in your hands. as for the screw, it WILL be corroded. hit it with a shot of blaster then grab your nut with some pliers and get the screw from the backside. i would suggest cleaning it up really well before reinstalling as a ton of stuff builds up in there.

Very good point. Those screws suck. If they get stuck, you can break the molding off and use some vice grips on the opposite end to try and work it out. It's a good idea to replace those screws and use some anti-seize on the threads before reassembly.

Rust breaker and vice grips will do the trick. Even though it's small, the screw does hold the molding from shifting off of its clips. Otherwise, you'll knock a curb with the bottom of your door and the molding will fall off. Kind of embarrassing when you're opening the door for a lady friend.
