Pros: V8 sound and POWAH

Cons: Timing chain is on the BACK of the engine, and somewhat prone to failure. (according to my local Audi Performance garage)

Lol you guys have all but talked me out of it. Don't get me wrong I'd love the power and pretty S emblem. But I'm soon to be on a Gi Bill budget and gas is getting more costly eryday. Plus reliability seems to go down as performance goes up.. maybe I'm wrong. Of course.. I am posting in the B5 section.

Really I want something a little newer, I won't say reliable; because I'm talking about an A4.

Of course this time around I won't be poor and will be able to properly conduct preventative maintenance. I also don't plan to have it blow up 3 days after I buy it. Cough.

So. Colors? Features to keep in mind? I've already read that some form of the automatic transmission is a POS. But I'm not buying an automatic until I give up on life (have kids).

I love you all

realistically, theres nothing wrong with a b6 a4. since i have an 01, its basically a b6 in a b5 body. however, i do not know much about b6 a4's besides what i know about my car and won't ever. i've convinced myself my next car will be either a b6 s4 or b7 a4. i'm not much for the b6 a4 styling. i much prefer b7's. have you thought bout those as an option? they are coming down in price every day and can be had for 10 g's for a decent one

The A4s I like the best are the B5s AND B6s, as far as looks go. I don't need a racecar really. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a ****** beast of a machine that I could kill myself in... but problem is I probably would lol. If it'll go 160 mph, I'm gonna make it go 160 mph...

I'm not much for the B7's actually. Something with the front grill.

Good to hear you're still alive and well! Haha.

Forget the B6, keep the B5 and dump a lot of money into it!

I personally wouldn't suggest the B6 S4. The limited mod with the 4.2 engine. Plus that V8 eats a lot of gas. Jet from this forum actually got rid of his B6 S4 after the endless headaches and opted a B5 S4.

I'm keeping my B5 but I just don't trust it, so that'll probably be the "toy" of my cars. The B5 S4 is doable, gonna probably want "low miles" and it'll have to be clean as ****. The main reason I was thinking B6 is just for the simple fact that they're newer. I like the body style, second only to that of the B5. Really looking for cleanliness and reliability (in an Audi sense of the word.)
