Default Ignition Coil

Has anyone ever had trouble with their ignition coils? I was driving home not long ago and all of a sudden the turbo was giving no power to the car at all. No boost or anything. And as I was driving it felt really rough (kind of like if you where to try to start off in like 3rd or 4th gear). Got back and pulled some codes. Had a missfire. Luckely I had a feeling that it was the ignition coil so i replaced the ignition coil for the cylinder and it was working fine after that. Has anyone else had this problem, and when is a good time to change out the Coils as in mileage?

They are a common problem. The hitachi packs are more reliable and no need to replace them until they fail... how ever long that is

You can get them from ecstuning for much less among other places. Most like to have a couple spares just incase.

yea it sucked paying that, but it had to be done. It would be a good idea to buy a set online in case this happens again. If one went then the others may be going soon as well

It happens to all 1.8t owners at one point in time or another. I got mine for $38 from the dealer. Will be ordering an extrafrom ECS when I get my timing belt kit, light weight pulley, snub and transmission mounts, and rear pads.
