Default Ideas to fix notorious Driver's seat tear?

Anybody have any advice? I have the $10 leather/vinyl repair kit but it seems pretty time consuming. Other than seat covers, has anyone else found a good solution? I was thinking of disassembling the seat and even finding similar vinyl and sewing it back on. But then again, I'd need to also figure out the root cause of the tear too and avoid it in the future.

I've got a tear in the lower bolster on the left side of the seat; quoted $60 to have it repaired at an upholstery shop.

u guys need to lose weight. i dont have any tears in my seat lol.

honestly though, the easiest is to probably have it reupholstered, or find a matching salvage one w/o the tear.

you have the repair kit from autozone with the little heat iron thing? how is that more time consuming then disassembling the seat and sewing new vinyl in its place?

does anyone who why this happens so frequently to our cars? and does it happen more often on the 1.8t's becuase they aren't real leather? This rip is driving me insane, it is the one thing preventing my interior from being flawless. has anyone had any luck with those auto zone kits?

Yup, that Pimtex kit or whatever it's called. I'd just rather spend the extra time and do it right by sewing since from what I've read, the repair kit results won't look perfect. So the way I see it, a few hours of time for possibly a temporary fix. Anyone know the Audi part # for the OEM seat covers? BTW, I have the 1.8T leatherette.

LOL, not necessarily weight. At 6'4", I'm a solid 240lbs, and I don't have any tears either. Time to stop wearing jeans with rhinestones on the hips, guys...
