Default Idea for new members

Alright so I'll be honest I'm not too sure how forum management works so i apologize in advance if what I'm suggesting isn't possible but I'll pitch it to you guys anyways.

I know personally that when i just came onto the forums I was sorta clueless and started some noobish threads and didn't exactly realize how with a little digging i could have found that my questions were already answered. Also I know that having the same questions come up over and over because of lack of the search tool get can annoying. So heres what I'm suggesting (any positive or negative feedback is welcome) When a new member joins the forums they immediately get a private message that...

1. Welcomes them to the site and lets them know where they can find not only the section specified to their cars, but also the classifieds, regional sections and the DIY section because these sometimes seem to be forgotten.

2. Informs them to read the stickies before going any farther because these will most likely answer at least one question they already have, and will give a ton of helpful information.

3. Inform them on how to find the search bar, and how much faster a question can be answered because many topics are repetitively brought up and talked about.

Like I said I'm not positive if something like this can be done but we were all noobs at one point and a little bit of a push in the right direction never hurt

dude, your still a noob..... and i think all this has been offered up at one time or another, but if you want to get something like this to "management" you would want to put it in the proper place.... or you could of just emailed administrator..... i get tired of all the new threads that have been covered a million times or one poster making 10 different threads.... if you had searched you would of found a thread i made about noobs just a few months ago in the forum issues section

The reason I'm posting it is because I'm still a noob and i know this sorta thing would have helped as i mentioned, and i did do a search before i posted this and i did come across yours, but it was more of how to put multiple threads together instead of giving them an idea where they might find the information. I'm suggesting this so that those types of things wont happen as much, and I'm sure your right that most of this may have been mentioned at one point or another, I'm just trying to group it all together into a possible idea. I've noticed the same thing you said though that the same questions get asked all the time and with just a heads up when they first join then some of these multiple threads could be avoided.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here or overstep my boundaries just trying to offer a suggestion.

I think its a good idea. Maybe when you first join, the stickies should be the only thing new members can access for like 24 hours. It'd probably cut down on spammers too.
