+1 on needing the VAG-COM to do just about anything with an Audi. Couldn't live without mine.

Engine coolant sensor, car will crank all day long but not start if it goes bad, will not throw a code to tell you its bad either. Its a 15 dollar part, and takes maybe 20 minutes to replace.

Your suspicion has been passed on to my mechanic. I would be SO thrilled if that was all it was
