put a factory clutch back in the B5, teach the wife how to drive it, give her a few weeks of practice to feel safe with having a child in it until you can afford her another DD, as well as an AX'er. But like everyone else is saying, safety and comfortability of the family is way more important than an addicting hobbie, so make the family happy until the AX thing falls into place a little easier, even if it takes a year or so!

but then again, i'm only 16 and know nothing. that's just what i would do if i was in your situatuion.

This is what we have agreed on, she likes it cuz if we wait till our taxes come back she can get something a year or two newer. She's happy, I'm happy, now I need to find a car >.<

Well, sounds like you have everything resolved, so my 2 cents is irrelevant.

But I'm going to give it anyway: Do what you can to get the best car you can afford for the wife and the kiddo, something that you're not going to have to spend money fixing every other month. I have yet to go AXing, but I want to. That being said, I don't know how truly addictive it is. But, if you don't want to use the B5 for AX because it's your DD, and you really can't afford to have it brake while you're driving it hard, you may want to consider taking a little time off of AXing until you can afford the car you want.

But, if your plan is good for both you and the wife, and everyone is happy in the end, then all's well that ends well...
