North of oregon? how far... how about...British Columbia, CANADA! All i do for winter is put a shovel in the trunk in case my car becomes beached in 10" of powder and drive a little harder (of course safer too right? quattro has kept my car in one piece. A lady in a nice big SUV came sliding down the street to a dead end where i was, so i carefully drove up the hill and past her on the opposite side of the road). Oh, and i always keep my skis in the car with the "winter pack" and a tow rope.

New England FTW!
Just a safety percaution guys, after spending a couple winters in upstate NY. While quattro is a thing a beauty, a lot of army guys (and gals) with there huge 4X4 trucks quickly learned that while the extra traction is great for handling, it doesn't do crap when it's time to stop quickly... I used to laugh at these trucks on the highway as they would blast by me in a snow storm, then 5 minutes later I'm safely driving by them stuck in the ditch.
Just because we can, doesn't mean we should...
