I drive an 01 Audi a4 I installed a k&n cold air intake my question is is having an after maker intake bad for my car or is helping because Ive heard both answers from different people can I get legitimate answer please? Thank you and also would this cause an engine code say system running to lean because of to much air flow?

if you installed it properly the CAI is not bad for your vehicle. The stock intake is really quite good and there is really no reason to install something aftermarket, but since you already did...

the MAF will meter the air coming through your intake and that should keep you from having fuel trim problems. there are some reports of the oil on some of the k&n filters can foul the MAF but again, if you put it in correctly you wont have problems

The problems people run into with K&N products are from over-oiled filters, not simply the fact that the filter isn't stock or flows better than stock or whatever else you heard. If you're seeing a CEL and/or rich/lean fuel trim codes, its because the oil from the filter trashed your MAF sensor.

If this is already the case, you can try cleaning your MAF with plastic-safe MAF cleaner available from Auto Zone or Advance. If that doesn't work you'll have to replace it.

If you haven't seen any issues yet, you can either leave it alone and hope for the best, or wash and re-oil it to try to prevent it from happening in the first place. The oil and cleaning kits are cheap. After you wash and thoroughly air dry the filter element, hit it with a LIGHT coating of oil. Don't douche it with the stuff or you'll be back here yelling at me for telling you to oil the filter. I did this with my K&N, which I've had on the car for over a year with no issues.

I've noticed they come over-oiled, so I usually wrap them in an old t-shirt or paper towels and let them sit for a day. You will be amazed at how much excess oil comes out of them.
