That really sucks man. Some dumbass backed into the front of my car with his trailer hitch and left a nice little hole in the top of my front bumper. He probably didn't even notice he had hit my car, but now I get to shop around and see how expensive it will be to repair.

Even 700 for just a trunk lid is pretty pricey. Should be able to get a decent full body paint job for not a lot more.

Like I said, that whole arrangement was not my doing. I took the car to a shop a friend of mine recommended and this was what was told to me over the phone today. This wasn't some whole, well you know so and so, so I'll charge insurance $xxxx.xx, and you only pay $xxx.xx.

Believe me, I'm as straight an arrow as your can get.

By all means, if you avoid paying 500 bucks, then go for it... plausible deniability (Oh, I thought the shop said they would cover the deductable) but once the shop starts giving you money, (and a fixed car) then you get into the shady department.

For a full body paint job (decent) that does the door jams is at least $2,500-$3000. Now you can go to Macco and get a **** paint job for $700...

glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that was an unrealistic price.

Also it is very common to body shops to hop up the price to help cover the deductible. Yeah if caught you can get into trouble. And if the Plow truck admits fault, they should cover the whole thing! I'm not sure if any of you have had real body work done to these cars (not bondo and spray paint) it's not cheep. Just an OEM rear bumper cover non painted just the part is $652. Then prep, paint, blend, and labor can EASILY take you over $1,000.

yeah well, the cop stated no fault and listed the accident as hit & run even though the plow company had the only other vehicles on site. They made damn sure they wouldn't admit to anything.....bastards......

I'm not sure what my options are now, because of the cops not issuing fault. Like I said, I have to speak with insurance again tomorrow, hopefully they will better inform me of my options. I don't think small claims court would even be a viable option either.

Well I wasn't saying that 700 would cover an entire paint job. I if you do body prep your self though (sanding and what not) you can get a very good paint job for ~1500 or so. But 700 for such a small part as a trunk seems like a lot. Even by your 2500 price that's nearly 1/3rd the budget for a small portion of the car. Granted it'd probably be cheaper because you can only order so little of the paint and what not.

not just the trunk mind you, the pearl paint needs to be blended into the quarter panels as well.
