after speaking to the shop.......that is what is being submitted to insurance. I was relieved.....it's only $700.

I'll admit I'm new to all this......I've never had to deal with insurance beside paying the bills.....the shop is giving them the $1300 quote and doing the work for $700. Which means I should see $600 back......right? After the deductible, it'll be $100 (since the deductible is $500). But if I get the landscaping company to cover the deductible I get $1100????

I know I should be smart enough to know all this, but if anyone can verify all this.....before I get my hopes up, I'd appreciate it.

I know right...that's what I thought as well. All that came directly from the body shop. I just want my deductible covered by the ******** who hit my car and have the shop fix the damage......

Am I held liable if this is in fact how they handle the repair? Like I said.....I've never had to deal with this before and I knew something appeared strange.

Technically, if you have a 500 dollar deductable, you're supposed to be paying 500 bucks out of pocket. Can you be held liable if the shop inflates the price for the insurance company and charges you less (the frruad part)? I'm not sure, but I would think so. If the plowing company is paying your deductable, then they admit guilt of hitting your car, and THEIR insurance should be paying the whole bill.

Thanks for the info....I'm going to have a long talk with the insurance company to see what their stance on getting the other companies insurance is before I shell out any cash.

Thanks for the heads up

No problem. You definitely shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for something that was completely not your fault. But at the same time, doing something shady could get you in big trouble... good luck.
