Well upon buying my car i was told that it was burning small traces of oil from the head. So going into i knew i had to do work to it, i drove it back from Oregon, and i licensed it with LEM plates. And put a nice wax on the satin black hood and on the rest of the car.
The water was beading off of it nicely.
So finally my car started burning coolant, after burning lots of oil.
I decided it was time to install my rebuilt head i had in the garage. I took off the old head to be surprised with huge clearance between my piston and cylinder wall, about .0027.
I also found that the they had doped it up with some bars leak to keep it from leaking coolant so he could screw me over, and most likely some oil additives to keep the oil burning down.
The bore is 81mm and supposedly the pistons are too, but thats a big gap.
Heres the rebuilt head, ready to go
And heres my block
So now ive decided to just go all in.
My speakers were starting to wine with the rpms, so i had every thing completely rewired and new grounds and rerouted, so that narrowed it down to most likely the alternator.
Ive purchased a new water pump, 120amp alternator, new rod bearings, and head bolts, all the gaskets, the belts are fine.
But tomorrow im going to take the block out and take it to a machine shop to get it bored.
Any suggestions on the bore?
ill keep updating with pics.

Thank you very much,
I went ahead and pulled the block.
Heres a nice pic.
Im gonna take it into a machine shop in seattle called NW Connecting Rod.
Ive heard great things about them and they said they'd do a bore for me for 150$.
Now i just need to figure what bore i want, so i can order some new JE pistons.

I took off the pressure plate, and the clutch is screwed. So something else i have to add to the build.
The flywheel is gonna need a new friction plate also, which i have no idea who sells them....

See this is why i love being apart of the Audi forums, Despite having so many things wrong with my car, You guys manage to help me look on the bright side of owning this car.
Also, I need help clutch shopping, idk where to start.
Ill need a stg 3 or higher.
Will be going eurodyne 630cc tuned most likely once i finish the engine.

call Ringer Racing for clutch and other performance item shopping. one of our forum members (mike2ptzero) works for them. he seems always willing to help folks here on the forums and I understand, from other people who have, if you call the shop they are more than happy to discuss whatever you want to talk about without being all pushy about selling you something you don't want or need.

Clean car buddy! Get some spacers for the rear tho and maybe drop it some more.
I'm really a fan of those headrests with the screens built in.
Do I spot a '74 Beetle somewhere in one of the pictures?

Oh believe me i will get to spacers eventually.
Haha, that's my neighbors shop he lets me borrow.
Its covered with stuff so i never had time to check, but i were to guess the car is a 50's year at least.
I wish it was a beetle tho.
Looks like i'm gonna end up putting in a.
SOUTH BEND CLUTCH FE STREET SERIES STAGE 5
I found a good deal on one, that still leaves out the friction plate on the flywheel, maybe i can find a shop that can resurface them, ill have to see.
I'm going to figure out the bore i want tomorrow, and order some new je pistons.
Anyone have any experience with these clutches?
Will my leg get sore pushing it in?
It had a stage 3 and i had never any trouble pushing that in.
This time i'm doing the build right.
