cool air = more power

with fmic you can adjust your timing and up your boost like cincy said so yes you will gain power.

and it will look cool

But if I run like 18ish.. would a fmic help at all? I want one but I dont wanna get it just for the looks.. also, can you get around the secondary air injection pump or do you always have to remove it?
You are still heatsoaking the tiny core and it having plastic end tanks dont help. You dont have to remove it, just move it. If you dont want to mess with this stuff, you can always upgradewith a smic from tyrolsport or the one at 034motorsport. Much less work and more than enough cooling for a stock to 28rs turbo

Im fine with the work, its not really that complicated, just making sure that it will even help out the performance.

you will see a gain in higher rpms where the temps really jump and it will be constant since the core wont heatsoak like the stock ic

I remember reading somewhere that with the turbo ripped out, the 1.8T was aprox 95HP so every 14.7PSI will double that. I have raced my friends stock STi and it is a bit faster, but not much. Im running 19psi, but have other mods too.

Remember the 300hp is what the manufacturer is rating the STi motor at the crank with NO accessories, its probably closer to 285-290 at the crank with all the drive belts added on, a/c compressor/alternator/power stering, etc.. then knock off the powertrain loss and you really only need about 250 at the wheels to be on par with an STi. They are almost the same weight too.

Also dont forget sti is 6 speed for track racing, 6 speed doesnt help for straight line races, thats why the evo was a 5 speed, its less shifts =more time in gear.

FLAWED. 7psi on a ko3 is nowhere near the same as 7psi on a gt35r.

The base hp of the NA 20v is 110 or 120hp. It runs basically the same motor but with cams suited for NA. Think compression may be 10:1.
