I got my car tinted but never got the lip on the front window because he couldn't get the rear view mirror off. He tried to twist it off but it would just flex the Windshield and I dont have glass coverage.

 

On my 96 it just twists off. Sorry, I can't help you any more than that.

 

push the mirror down until it pops off the ball joint.

It will just hang there by the wires, then pull down on the ball joint, which is just a snap fitting glued to the wind shield.

It takes some effort and comes off abruptly but that's how it work, it's just a snap on.
