Default How to remove lower half of rear bumper?

I can see these big plastic clips sticking through and managed to pop out a couple, but the one in the middle doesn't want to move. It seems that there's more to it though since it's still on there pretty tight. What else do I need to do? Am I missing something?

Never tried to remove the one on my avant but the one on my 97 just popped off. There were no fasteners or anything that I could find. Maybe try hitting it with your purse if you're not strong enough to get it off.....

Ha, ha very funny. Actually, I've broken a lot of clips and connectors before on cars by just yanking on them because I didn't push down a tab or something. so I'm just scared to break the thing. I guess I'll take another look at it.

When I ripped one of at the junkyard I think I only broke one or two clips. Just pull it.

Alright, thanks. I'm just doing a restoration right now and this is part of it. I removed the ugly spray paint that was coming off on the rubber lowers on the sides of the car and had to paint the underside black to match it. I don't know if break fluid will work on removing the paint from the lower bumper piece or if I'll have to paint that too and then spray some clear over it.

If you want to strip paint go to a home improvement store and buy some paint stripper. It's safe on plastic and it makes the paint just bubble off.

Thanks. It took a lot of elbow grease to get all the paint off the rubber using break fluid and it worked better than paint thinner. I'll go check that out.

Do you or anyone on this thread know where i can find a rearlip that fits directly into the stock bumper clips? i just bought a lip but it would require me having to cut and modify the existing bumper. When i bought the car it had a lip on it already that fit directly into the stock clips.. but i cant seem to find a replacement anywhere.. any help is appreciated! thanks!!
