How much do you think it is worth?
Hey guys,
I have a stock 1998.5 1.8T non-Quattro A4 sitting in my driveway that needs a little TLC. I noticed that my coolant is leaking and I believe it needs a new head gasket. The car is in pretty good shape for its age, although it does have a few extra miles on it (147,XXX). The miles are mostly highway from commuting. I am moving to Germany soon, and I need to get rid of it. I also don't have the financial resources as well as I am currently not working. Anybody looking for a project car? If I were to sell the car, how much do you think it would be worth as is? I have already gotten an offer for 1K, is that ok or should I go for $1500?

$1k might be a little low depending on exactly whats wrong with it. you might be able to get $2-2.5k if you found the right buyer, but its all about how fast you need it sold. if that were my car and someone came by with 15 hundred dollar bills, i might take it.

If it just has a blown headgasket, the rule of thumb is to take off the price of parts and labor to change it and multiply that by 2. So if the headgasket repair is 2k take 4k off the price. If its worth 8k normally, its currently worth 4k, but in this crap pot economy who knows.
