I went into a bodyshop the other day & asked how much it was going to cost me to only paint the lowers of the car to match, and he said it was going to cost $1800. This number seems really high, as i was thinking it was going to cost 300-400. He said that since it's plastic, they have to take all the peices off & spray them with speical paint for the plasitc or else the paint would start to chip & flake off. Any thoughts from anybody about this, or if there is anyone that lives in the Chicagoland area, where did you go & how much did it cost you. Thanks guys

 

Do it yourself....it will cost about 50$ for materials...

About $50 in supplies, more if its paint for the stealership, and half a day if you DIY. That "special" paint they're talking about is adhesive promotor and it's $5.99 a can at autozone, you'd probably only need one can for the whole job. Even with pro paint work with filler, sanding, priming and several coats of paint it shouldn't cost you more than $300. $1800 ha!

I would be pretty pissed off if someone tried ripping me off like that, I would be very tempted to get revenge (legally). Get some quotes from a few of their competitors.
