How do you fully flush the cooling system?
I know you can do a simple drain and fill, but as some of you know, I had a slow oil cooler failure that I didn't realize was the reason for my oil loss. Aftesr the shop flushed the cooling system about 3 times, they thought they got all the oil out, but Im pretty sure its recollected in the heater core, and not because of the oil cooler this time. My reasoning is I got a buddy at the local Audi dealer to look at my car, and he diagnosed the oil cooler failure, and saw lots of oil in the heater core (which explains my no heat issue a month after the Core replacement). He flushed the heater core, and I got heat for a few days and after it went back to no heat.
Attempted burping the cooling system at the heater core, and the coolant was brown (I only put in pink g12) so there is more crap in the system just floating around.
So WTF
I can run water through the car all day, but I know with oil this is way ineffective. So does anyone have a better idea?

i was thinking the same thing, you need something that dissolves oil, not just flows over it. it shouldnt hurt anything to fill it with soapy water, run it until your thermostat opens, then drain, fill with water to rinse, then use 50/50. just dont do it until someone else chimes in =]

For the love of god don't use a soap that will bubble and trap air, that would be stupid. They make solvents you can add to your system, but MOST of them will put a hurtin on your O-rings because solvents will also eat rubber. I would try adding a tablespoon of seafoam to the coolant at a time, run the engine with the drain plug open until its empty. Then repeat the process with water/seafoam until it comes out clear. Then you can fill it back up with G-12.
