Default How to check timing

so how do i check the cam chain and manual timing? im getting misfires on the driver side only and ive literaly changed every part imaginable, this is the only thing i could think of but dont know how to do it, on person told me to crank the engine with the valve cover off and take a look is there another way to crank the engine without the car in service position?

You don't need service position for that. Pull the valve cover and put the front in the air. From underneath, use a ratchet to rotate the engine and align the timing marks on the cam tensioner. When they're aligned, you should have 14 chain links between the marks (16 if you include the links at the marks). The CCT DIY will give you the details.
