Default How to adjust handbrake?

Hey,

Ever since I change my rear pads my handbrake hasn't worked, it goes all the way to the top with 0 resistance. I guess I need to re calibrate it or something. I found the two adjusters on the cable near the rear control arms, what do I have to do? Is there a diy for this somewhere?

Thanks

Ok so I just removed the cup holders from the center console. The cable is too slack so when I pull the ebrake it only catches the cable right at the very top. I need to send the cable back of sorts so that the ebrake catches it earlier on, how can I do that?

The adjusters are under the car, assuming you have AWD they're a bit to the front from the rear caliper on each side. I think the procedure is pull the clip near the middle out, thread both sides together, put the clip back in, and pull the sides apart until you feel resistance.

Yeah there's one on each side But mine wouldn't adjust so I just don't use an e-brake!

Yeah well I did that all winter but I decided I want to fix this. I see that there are two cables there. Is the method to bring them back by using the adjusters near the rear control arms?

So I have read the section of the bentley manual several times but I still don't understand what they are saying... Could someone reword this for me please.

Thanks!

those were the instructions I used, confused the hell out of at me at first too. First you remove the locking clip, it might look like it's not there but it is, it's at the front end of the adjuster. Then turn in C, the long part of the adjuster in until it stops, slide both ends together, then undo C until you can put the clip back in. Make sure something is holding your ebrake lever all the way down, I jammed a screwdriver into the mechanism inside the car. Then just pull the adjusters apart until you feel resistance and pull the ebrake lever a couple times. Tell me what you don't understand and I'll explain that part better.

Ok I have taken the clip out, Now I can unscrew C and it is bringing the wire back in a bit. After that I don't know what to do...I don't understand what I am supposed to slide? The big part C screws or unscrews, it doesnt slide...
