Hey everyone!!! My first audi ever!!! Quick questions on tiptronic.
Hey guys I just tradded my super mint 1993 lexus sc400 for a 2001.5 audi a4. This car has been slightly upgraded, runnin 18psi on stock turbo intake exhaust yada yada. I will really get into looking at it when I get some time... anyways the PO stated that he replaced the magnets in the tiptronic and that the ecu needs to be recoded or something like that I didnt exactly understand I was thinking in my head whatever drive works 100%. Anyways I would definitely like for this feature to work, I think he said that something needs to be done with the steering wheel or ecu reset? Anyways from what i'm reading he could have glued the long magnet 180 degrees around the other way causing the polarity to be switched making it not work or just fibbed to me and not actually replaced the magnets at all?
Typically should anything have to be reset once the magnets are replaced or should the tiptronic just start working? I'm going to buy a vadcom the second I get the money however, i'm a wee bit broke as of right now. For all you pic ****** the pics will be coming very shortly.

Usually what happens is the magnets fall out and you just have to ghetto fix them back into place. Here's one DIY on it, Google it and you'll find a lot of info. Not sure why the OP thought he had to do something with the ECU...unless he FUBAR'ed the thing by not knowing what he was doing.

Just a quick note. When following that DIY, you do not have to pull the button on the gear selector out of the gear selector. Once you have the silver collar at the bottom of the gear selector removed from the black portion of the gear selector, you just grip the button on the gear selector with your hand and pull it out. It will only come out so far. Then while holding the button out, you pull up on the gear selector and it will come off.
