Default Hesitation for a quick second around 2600 rpm

So when im accel. sometimes i get a quick hesitation or detonation at around 2600 rpm. Not sure how to explain it really, its like hitting a wall for a millisecond. Only happens sometimes, but more often then not. I have done a tba with vag even though it said it was ok already. Any ideas would be sweet, no codes and i can only feel it in first and second gear, mostly first less in second. Anyone whose had this problem or has any idea what could fix it would be sweet.

I have the same problem, but mine happens in 3rd gear under a heavy load(Like being in 3rd around 2000 and then going WOT and it starts shaking a little around 3-4000 and then clears out.. Any suggestions?
Happens usually in 3,4,5th

my ex's 1.8t used to do this (it was mostly in 2nd, sometimes in 1st) under a rather heavy load, we pulled the codes and it turned out to be a misfire...

ditto! every time I've seen an otherwise unexplained hesitation or shutter, it has been poor sparkplugs.. pull them and check them out.. its free to check / cheap to replace, unless you know they are in good shape i would start there

It's an 01 1.8T... Check to make sure your coil packs are the newest ones (should have a date of 2008 or later). If they are dated 03 or earlier, swap all of them out.

And make sure you don't pay more than $35 each TOPS. Some dealers are gouging over $50 each when the Audi list is $33 or so.

hmm... just changed my spark plugs (just did it like 6 months ago, but thought it could have been causing the issue since i did a seafoam recently...)

but that didnt help! i had gapped my plugs to .30 initially when i installed them 6 months ago, and when i took them out they were ALL like .24 approx....

i did loose the gapper i used the first time and had to stop and get a new one from oreilleys... think using a different gapper could be so different ?! well that wasnt the fix anyways so im just rambling i guess...

any other suggestions? im getting hesitation at completely random rpms under moderate acceleration... think its my MAF needing cleaning? or what?! this is starting to get to me since i have no CEL's
