Help plz! K04 with K03 tune
Hi all. My car has a very bad misfire. The car is barely driveable. my codes are p0300, p0302, p0303, p0304
The car has a K04, but I'm running a GIAC tune for the k03. Does anyone know if this could be causing my misfire?
I've replaced the plugs, moved coilpacks around, replaced vacuum lines, adjusted fuel pressure, and cleaned the MAF with MAF sensor cleaner. The coilpacks are hitachi's, so I don't think it's them. I need to get this car running! I bought it for 5750 and I'm starting to think is was a very bad choice. I'm starting to question my decision making abilities in general. Someone help me save my car and my pride.
Thanks!

When you replaced the plugs, did you set the gap to the same as stock, or tighten it down? If you're running an aftermarket ECU tune with elevated boost, you need to regap - I believe the right gap is .028" (someone correct me if my memory is off here). That would explain it, especially if you've recently upgraded your ECU.

well, you are right .28, but with him running a k04 on k03 software.... he might need to run .28's no matter what
search for other k04 threads........ like maybe the one by paintball guy.... he ran a k04 on k03 programming there is alot of good stuff there
also did you change your fpr to an adjustable?

Yes, the fpr is adjustable. Adjusted to about 70 psi, or 5 bar.
I found threads with people running the k04 on k03 software, but I haven't found one with similar problems. I'll go check thepaintballguy threads.

Hey!
I only ran the K04 on K03 tuning for about a week before upgrading to the GIAC PC-16 file and the only problems I had was my boost would spike a lot but that was because of the POS MBC I had. Other than that it ran like normal. Pull your plugs out and see what they look like. That way you can tell if it's either not getting fuel (plugs will be dry) or if it's getting fuel but not burning it (plugs will be wet). That way you can see where there is a problem, either fuel system or ignition system.

Hey! Thanks for your input. I guess it's probably not the ECU then.
The plugs were dry and had a kind of a tanish hue. I think they looked good, unless tan is bad.
The bad news is the car won't even start now. It cranks, and sometimes will idle erradically for a few seconds, then die. I can't rev it up. I see a little puff of smoke from the tailpipe, and slightly smell gas.
A piece of my FPR broke.. the little nipple that the vac. line connects to. I ordered a new FPR, but it doesn't arrive till wednesday. So there's no vac. line hooked to it. The car has run since this was disconnected though.. The fuel pressure is holding steady. Could this be why it's not starting?
