Default Help: loose wire behind instrument cluster

Hello guys,

I have the following problem:

I have a loose wire behind my instrument cluster and I have no clue what it is for (function) or where it should be connected

It looks like it should be on the yellow 26 pin connector on the LH side of the instrument cluster (allthough I am not sure)
But the wire seems to be coming from, and be part of the same bunch of wires going to this connector, and also the length seems to be right for that.

The color of the wire seems to be: Blue/White or Blue/Gray

Some background info:

A4 B5 1997 ACK engine V6 - 30 Valve
Pre Facelift model
Imported in Brasil from Germany (not known for wich market this model is designated)
This car has multiple electrical problems so I have to tackle them one by one, but it makes trouble shooting a lot more complicated.

Shortlist of non working functions:

- Airco (switches on but not blowing cold air even though system has gas)
- Cruise Control
- Auto Tiptronic box in limp mode
- Original radio has been removed (Audi Delta Radio (concert?) )
- Adjustable Headlights (there is a switch, but not working)
- There seems to be a shortcut in the wiring somewhere, as at times, the speedo meter, rev.counter, fuel level meter, engine temp meter go crazy, pulling from indicating normaly to zero and back again.
- FIS / DIS indicating very often a battery warning light even though output voltage alternator is ok .

I have been looking for a complete wiring diagram especialy for the ACK version, but have only been able to come up with a bentley diagram.

Anyone who can tell me what this wire is for and where it goes?

Luke

Understanding differences between Audi A4 clusters and the compatibility issues - AudiWorld Forums

It doesn't give wire colors but if you find a pin that doesn't have a wire and doesn't say "open" you've probably found where it goes.

Most of the diagrams I have are for the facelift models, so there are some differences. I do have one that alleges to be for a '96. Use at your own risk. PM me your email if you want the full diagram.
