Angry Help just bought my new a4 and issues already

2001 Audi A4 B5 1.8T with 86k on it.

Ok, well within the first week of having the car I got a check engine light. Got the codes and it was P0171. So I cleaned the MAF, replaced a few rotted check valves and the light will go off from time to time but comes right back on. When I turn the car off I also hear the sound of air being released. Is this the ac? or is it another vacuum hose. It sounds like it's coming from the firewall area on the pass side.
Also I did search but didn't find anything specific to my exact issues

Then last night i was driving my friend to see his lady before she ships out this morning and he wanted tommys burgers, being the nice guy that I am I let him bring his food in my car (which i don't even bring food in my car for myself) So i rolled the windows down so it wouldn't stink up the car. But when I went to roll the windows back up the back drivers side is now stuck in the down position. I tried to pull it up so I could park the car and leave it overnight but when i did so the window would come half way up and then the motor would pull the window back to the open position??
About an hour later when I go to get back in the car the turn signal starts freaking out. It will go on for one blink on the dash and on the outside of the car then turn off on both even though the lever is still pushed up or down. After reading a bit on here I tested the hazard lights and they seem to be working fine and not blinking erratically. Any suggestions? do you think it's a relay?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just bought this car and it has given me the biggest headache out of any car I've ever owned and this is the newest and most expensive car I've ever owned. I kinda want to take it back to the dealership and shove it up the dealers *** at this point.

Oh also anyone have a thermostat diy. I looked and didn't find one for the A4. My engine is running cold while on the freeway but back to temp when surface street driving or idle. from what I read this is a thermostat problem.

Thanks again.

The window issue sounds like a regulator has gone bad. There is a writeup to replace it on audiworld. The part is around $100. After the window gets half way up then comes back down, if you hit the button again, does it go all the way up slowly?

The thermostat is not easy to get to on these cars. Most guys do it when doing a timing belt change. The problem may be with the coolant temperature sensor. It is pretty cheap and relativley easy to swap out on the 1.8 t so I understand. They are known to cause irratic behavior for the temp gauge. I'd replace that first before worrying about the thermostat unless you are planning to do a timing belt change. Good Luck.

Your MAF may be on its way out, I had the same issue with PO171 and the light coming and going, if its bad cleaning wont help much.

For you blinkers replace the hazrd relay switch. It contains 2 separate relays in the 1 switch, one for hazards and the other for blinkers. I followed the DIY by DudleyDoright in the DIY section of this board.

New MAF from Purems.com $100 after $50 return core rebate
Cant remember where I got the relay but it was only about $30.

good luck

After taking it apart in the light today, it looks like the regulator wire has slipped off of the top pulley due to a crack, causing the wire to get caught in the rear of the pulley. I got it out and back on track and the window goes up but the i can tell its going to fall right back off as soon as I try to use the window again. Is it time for a new pulley or a new window regulator?

hmm, I have been doing some reading and it didn't seem like the thermostat was that hard to get at if you go from under the car as opposed to taking the entire car apart? am I incorrect? Yeah, that is the cheaper and easy fix but the temp gauge does the exact same thing every time. I really don't think it's a sensor. But am I wrong? I have already bought the thermostat and planned on doing it today.

Also, in means of my CV boot. Last night was the first time I noticed anything. I heard a clicking noise whenever I would turn to the right at lower speeds. Should i just do the boot or the entire axle?

ok, so now after checking again, the turn signal doesn't work at all, however I still hear the relay clicking in the dash? not the sound of the turn signal but the sound coming from above the radio where the relays are. Do you still think it's a relay? or possibly the actually switch?
