HELP! Immobiliser
G'day from Australia.
I purchased a 2001 A4 Quattro a couple of weeks ago, and did a really stupid thing....
The car came with 2 fobs, and one of them worked and the other one didn't, so I started playing....
Somehow I managed to screw them both up, and neither of them will start the car. The one that opens the doors etc still works, and the other still doesn't, but when I try to start the car, it runs for a few seconds and stops. The Car witht eh little key under it lights up, telling me that the key isn't going to work.
I have searched all over this site and the rest of the internet, but none of the procedures I have found will make either of these keys start my car.

RE: HELP! Immobiliser
Hello Pete,
Unfortunately without a working key for the ignition the DIY to get the other keys to be recognized by the immobilizer is not going to work.
If you have a VAG-COM, and the 4-digit security code for the immobilizer (dealer item, and they need to hook up the car to a diagnostic tool which dials up to Germany to get the code), then you might have a chance to get the chips in the keys to be re-adapted for your ignition. Otherwise you are stuffed and need to have the car towed to the dealer and have them do the adaptation of both keys for you. It will not be cheap, but at least you will have your car back in working order.
Cheers,
Steve
