Default Help

Hey guys drove my car home today and it was running fine, went to leave for my girlfriends and my car wont start, it wont even crank. 99% sure its not the battery because i have 12 volts in aux mode so im pretty sure thats not it, also i dont have any codes i hooked up my computer so just need some help. Its a 1997 a4 1.8t quattro. Im going to have car withdrawls if it wont start.

Problem: put key in turn to start aux lights come on then, nothing, no crank nothing.

Help Please!!!!

Check your battery terminals for the hell of it, but it's probably your ignition switch!

Do you ever smell burning plastic? I think there was a recall for 97 ignition switches. Look into that.

I think you might be right on the ignition switch, how hard is that to put in, the key has been acting weird when i put it in and pull it out.

I'm just trying to take a good guess, I mean it could be other things. Call an Audi dealer and inquire about a recall for that which relates to your VIN #. You can test the switch with a multimeter. Not sure of the exact method.
