Default Hello To All New to the Forum ECM Question

Hello to All !!!
I have recently take over my daughters older A4. She had lost favor with it as it was not running well after a former repair had been made and it has sat in my driveway for almost 4 years. I am attempting to breathe new life into it and possibly keep it for myself as it is in excellent condition still. It is a 1.8T Quattro with Automatic tiptronic transmission. My initial question to the group is this.......
She had complained after the last repair she thought her transmission was beginning to fail as it was shifting erratically and her former car (Passat) had met the beginning of its end in the same manner so she just gave up on it. I believe she had had some driveability issues and after getting the car back the mechanic said he had to install a new coil pac. The car never seemed the same after that. The drain around the battery and ecm plugged over time and the ecm was mostly under water and the first thing I wanted to look into. Upon opening the cover to see what the number was I found *D0907 557 P. I see from looking at ebay these seem to be for manual transmission cars. I also see yello crayon written over the top of the case suggesting this was s reclaimed part? Was this known to be on any OEM factory ecms? I never see it on replacement ebay ecms....Is this an acceptable ecm for this car? Is there a resource where ecm numbers can be found for 1998 1.8T quattro turbos, and any variants? Without KNOWING if the one in the car is original, I dont know where to begin to investigate if this computer could have caused the issues she was describing with the shifting. I am hoping I have come to the right place to find out where i can determine what the ecm I should get....Thanks in advance for any information anyone can or is willing to provide. Too Long winded for my first posting and I am sorry. Best wishes to all!!
Thanks
Geoff
