heating issue
yes it is august but i am trying to tackle my heat issue before the winter gets here. so my heat is a little warm only when i leave the fan on the lowest setting, once i put the fan on high it goes cold. the last few winters i have had my heater core and a full system flush and that seems to work a little but the heat quickly goes away. my coolant is clean and i cant seem to figure out why i dont get heat or why it may be clogging up. any ideas??

im new to working on audi's, but what about the thermostat? i know in other cars that can cause you to not have any heat, but you would likely have overheating problems in the summer if that were the problem...
other than that, my heat stopped working once in my Altima when the coolant level was low, but it looks like you already checked on that

check to see if your fan clutch is good or bad, cause when you turn the a/c on wheather its hot or cold if that thing goes then there ges you heat and you ice cold air.
how to check it pop your hood and spin the fan, if the fan keeps spinning then its bad but if not then i have no idea.

Did you replace the waterpump and T-Stat lately, or at least at the last timing belt? For heat to work, the coolant must get hot and it needs to flow through the heater core. T-stat stuck open may not let the coolant get hot enough... As a quick test/temporary fix in the winter, cover half of the radiator with a piece of cardboard (to block airflow). This will let the coolant reach a hotter temp in the radiator, and hotter coolant will get to the heater core for ya. How's the blower motor working?
Hook it up to a VAGCom and see what temp your car is running at. It might be a bad temp sensor turning on the electric fan too soon?

Could be a bad thermostat, but that would be unlikely to be the cause if your temp gauge is right in the middle.
If you have no heat it is one of a few things;
1: Fan doesn't work (but your AC is OK, so that isn't it)
2. Heater core is clogged, Turn on the heat in the car with the engine warm and running. check the heater hoses going through the fire wall from the engine compartment. If they are both very hot, then the core is not clogged or an air lock is not there. If they are not hot, then there is a blockage.
3. Most likely, the flap valve that switches the air to flow over the heater core is stuck or the motor that runs it it burned out. You will need a real vagcom and run the diagnostics on the HVAC system
