Default Headunit is draining my battery

So i dumped my Bose for a JVC head unit in my 96. Used the wiring harness and got everything to work but after day or two my car struggles to start and after a few will not start. Put the volt meter on it and I could actually watch .01v tick off. I cut the constant 12v source for the radio and put the volt meter back on the battery and it stays at the same voltage. I tried moving the 12v constant to the 12v ignition but it will just reset everything and put it in demo mode. Hoping someone knew what the fix is to this issue so I don't have to jump my car since I don't have to drive it everyday.

there should be a switched, a 12v, and a ground out of the head unit. did you use an adaptor or just hardwire?

Sounds like you may have jumped a connection someplace accidentally. Did you solder and cover all your connections or just twist them?

everything is soldered and taped off. Im guessing it may have to do with the speakers. Ill have to charge the battery and try looking again.

sure you didn't swap 12v constant for a 12v switched? I've done it before sometimes wires don't match up via connectors.

Try going to your local best buy to pick up a metra harness. I can't view your eBay link since I'm on my phone so my apologies if the one you have is metra. Metra is all ae used at circuit city. You gotta make sure you got the correct harness so go to metraonline.com to use their fitment guide to make sure you got the right one. As long as you can get the part number off metra you can search for one. Again my apologies if you already got a metra harness. Also id take the radio out and hook it right up to a 12v source with the ignition wife hooked up to the battery too to see if it draws voltage when the hu is shut off.the best bet is to buy the metra harness that plugs into your factory harness then buy the metra harness that plugs into the jvc. Then they plug together. Its the easiest and best solution but maybe not the cheapest.

Just looked ar metra for you. The harness is pn 70-1787 which includes the regular vw harness plus amp integration for you Bose assuming your using the stock amp or at least the factory amp and speaker wires. I highly recommend this harness. The other end of the harness is a metra specific plug that would plug into the other harness that plugs into the hi making splices and soldering unneeded. This is the best route to go but to save money you can splice the metra harness and jvc hu harness together.
