Headlights from other years?

Headlights from other years?
I need to pass an inspection and I have a small, 1cm crack on my headlight on one of those lines coming up from the bottom. Hard to see but dont want to risk the re-test fee ($45).
I'm thinking of going to a pick a part place and find one for the cheap.
What years can I use? I have a 2000 A4 1.8T quattro (ATW) with the winter package. I'm sure it has HID.

Your best bet is to go to a local junkyard and find the entire headlight cluster. I think it would be cheaper that way.
If you have HID's, make sure you get the right cluster. They need a higher voltage or amperage to operate.

If you have HID's you're out of luck for a cheap quick fix, you might get really lucky and find one at a junkyard but that's a big if. Lots of people know they're worth a lot and someone will pull them to resell later within days of the car arriving. Try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market, you'll probably be able to find one nearby, but not neccessarily cheap.
