Headlight combination switch fix help
I was trying to take the steering wheel off but I couldn't even take out the air bag/air horn unit. I took out the two screws on the sides but yanking it didn't work. Some help please?

Someone please help. I need to drive my car on Monday and would like to get it fixed by tomorrow. From the instruction from Audiworld, they took out the two screws and were able to get the unit out but that one is the newer model steering wheel... is mine different?

no, the 2 screws in the back only lets the airbag out. the steering wheel is still bolted to the car.

Disconnect the battery and remove the two torx screws in the back of the steering wheel. The airbag should come right out. Sometimes, it requires pressure towards you on the airbag while loosening the screws.
Do you have a 3 or 4 spoke wheel?

hi, thanks for the response! I have the 4 spoke steering wheel. The weird thing is that the torx screws weren't there to begin with. I bought the car used a year ago. So no screws, just two holes. When I tried to yank the airbag out, it won't come out. I took a look inside and saw an electrical board thing behind the airbag unit. That electerical board looks like it's bolted to the back. I'm a girl and not the strongest but it really didn't want to come out. Thanks for your help.

If I remember correctly... On the four spoke, it's a little different. Take a short handled, but sturdy flat-head screw-driver that fits in the hole without damaging the wheel. There is a metal bar you will need to move aside.
If you take a flashlight and a mirror, you will see a steel bar through that hole. Insert the screwdriver and pry it away from the column (if I recall correctly). The airbag will pop out of the wheel on that side. Holding pressure on the loose side so it doesn't pop back in, turn the steering wheel to gain access to the opposite hole and repeat the step on the opposite side.
It's not easy, but it's a system still in use on quite a few Audi, VW, and Porsche models.

BTW, there is another airbag design Audi used... the (T30) screws are there, but deeply recessed in those holes. Grab a small mirror and flashlight and look in the holes to be sure this isn't the case. I remember I had to buy a special length T30 bit to do these airbags.
