Default Head Ligts and Signals Dead

1999 A4 (B5) Avant 1.8t Q.
Problem is the headlights and signals don't work.
I can hold back the high beam stick as a temp fix for the moment.

Suspect a relay has died, but looking in the Audi book, the relay designation isn't very clear.
Even the "break down" faq is a little weird.

Any advice is appreciated.
Happy New Year

Happy new year. Signal relay shouldn't be affecting the headlights. Check the cables and fuses first.

The relay for the turn signal/hazard should be behind the emergency light switch/button it self. At least that's where it is on the facelift models.

Which 1999 do you have? Does it come with two piece of one piece headlights?

I had a relay under the dash that went bad, I lost signals headlights and maybe hvac I don't remember. It was under the dash against the firewall in a row if others.

Your combination switch has died. Replace it and you're fine. You can take that to the bank. It's common on a B5.

The combo-relay? Makes sense, left and right relays for each light.
Is it the big brown dude # 389?

While devil is 100% right it is you combi switch I just want to say there IS a multi purpose relay. The only reason I know this is because I had to replace it when mine melted and everyone told me combi switch and that didn't fix it. I sent my car out to a shop after that and after three days they found out it was the relay. It controls your wipers your turn signals (parking lights will work) low beams (high beam will work if held) no fog lights and no wipers.
