Hazard switch/blink relay fix, save 30-60bucks.
so i had the turn signal problem I've seen many others have, so i did a quick search and found the awesome DIY
http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...n+signal+blink
well on the bottom he shows how he took it a part and soldered the hazard relay into the slot where the blinker relay was. i currently don't have a working soldering iron and definitely didn't wanna pay for a new switch if i didn't have to so knowing my relay switch was ruined anyway... i took it apart.
when it was open i seen the 2 relays, nothing look burnt out, old nor corroded so i thought id play with it. with the switch casing pulled off i plugged the open circuit board into its plug in the dash and noticed what was, and actually what WASN'T, happening.
the relay opens and closes a little copper prong, when ur blinker (and hazards, on the second relay) stops blinking the copper piece stops moving.
well i couldn't find a logical reasoning for this. the piece that moves is closely placed to the main relay piece and stuck together by a small silver piece. where the 2 copper pieces are closely placed i separated them with my finger nail and now my blinkers work! if i take my fingernail out however, within a few blinks it stopped working correctly. though after doing it a few times its pretty much working fine.. however im gonna find something small i can stick in there, like a tiny sticker or something, to keep the part pushed away to its working position for a permanent solution.
i have pictures ill upload and even a short video after ive finished this small project in its entirety.
*so for a quick follow up, everything was working before with just a small problem where the blinker would quickly blink twice.
to finish the project i took a piece of electrical tape(actually i used boxing tape, its all i could find but i recommend electrical, just in case) and cut it in very small pieces. i used my fingernail to pull apart the 2 pieces of copper and stuck the end of my tiny piece of tape just into the crevice of the 2 copper pieces on both the front and back of the relay, took it for a spin around the block(literally) used my blink, even turned the blinker on before starting the car to see if anythign would interrupt them and everything is perfect thus far!

No no no, just get a generic Bosch automotive type relay and harness if you want to be able to do it cheaply. I've gotten those relays for a couple bucks a piece.
