having boost issues
hello everyone,
so recently i had to drop some money into my newly purchased 2001 a4 with awm engine. the problems that came up were the cam tensioner and head gasket and so head issues. so after dropping 2000.00 into the car it doesnt pull and spool like it used to. before the issues came up i had a 3' downpipe back exhaust, kn intake and a turboxs bov installed. the car pulled hard then i installed a boost gauge and boost was lowered from around 10 to 4/5 not by me or any software, also the bov stopped whistling. so i believe the reason is the boost guage however the car does boost to 9/10 within the first 5 minutes of start up. then while at wop the boost gauge slowly drops to 5/4. i t'ed the boost line into the intake manifold pressure line.

Any CEL's? how do you know what the car was boosting before you installed the boost gauge if you didn't have a boost gauge?
Just based on this info, my first guess is that during the installation process, you disturbed one of the vac lines and gave yourself a boost leak. Are they all original? First thing i would do is a leak test. Don (chocolatestarfish) did a really good DIY video, check the DIY section

i just installed my SSQV this weekend and i pulled a VAC line by accident and my **** was not even boosting at all so went back and found it and now im back to 9 psi that's probably what happened and also look for broken VAC line's that can cause CEL with the secondary air pump or some ****.
and is that BOV closed at idle?
