Default Has anyone pulled an automatic Quattro transmission?

I need to pull my transmission to replace some seals but I have never worked on an Audi in my life. I have pulled many transmissions and even a few AWD ones but I was told Audi is a huge pain in the butt to work on. Has anyone done it and do you think I should even try? I will just sell the car if you cay no. I am not paying the big bucks to have someone do it for me. If you have done it do you have any advice or pictures to help me out? Any help would be appreciated.

We pulled a manual a few weeks ago and it's not a lot worse than any other really. It's labor-intensive and there's quite a bit of work (and you're going to want a helper for sure) but it's not a murderous job by any means. Do the job rather than sell the car - I think at the end of it you'll be glad you did.

ok thanks. I want to keep the car for sure. I love them! I wanted an S4 B5 but I am not rich! This car cost me $1000 delivered from 74 miles away. Its a great car other than the trans problem. I want a manual but I don't feel like doing the swap. The auto will be better when I drive it for work.

Im in the process of pulling mine out now. As stated its pretty involved but its def something that can be done. I'm swapping mine out for a manual though so you will have a little easier time than me.

I have done the auto to manual swap in a few cars. Once we pulled in a car did the swap in 18 hours straight and drove away in it. That was a crazy day! it was an 80s dodge daytona turbo. It was my first auto manual swap. I will never swap a manual to an auto. Why destroy a good car?

My auto is toast and I have the knowledge to do it. So why not? Plus a lot more options in the future than the Craptronic. Good luck.

My trans works when it has fluid in it but it leaks out fast so I cant really drive it.

I had the same problem turned out it was both my input shaft seal (in the front by the tq converter) as well as my output shaft seal (to the driveshaft). Cheap if you DIY but my clutch packs were sitting in my tranny pan when I checked so not worth fixing it.

Yeah my input shaft seal is the only one leaking. I will probably replace them all though and install a new filter before I put it back in.

I hear that when that seal blows you need to have your tq converter rebuilt not 100% on that though.
