gtrs vs gt2871r elim

Should be fine on a gas pump tune with water/meth, there are plenty running those on race gas tunes making around 330whp. It just really depends on the tune and how aggressive the timing is since its timing that will bend the stock rods not how much power you are making.

ok, so with water/meth i should run a race gas tune? also how much of a difference would a lwfw make?

Some tuners offer tunes for pump gas with water/meth. Timing is going to be a bit more advanced for race gas. If you go Revo you can use a SPS controller to change the timing map for more adv timing and do so till you have what you want. But to do this you will need to use a vagcom to make logs of pulls of more then 1 gear at a time.

LWFW's are great, if the car is a daily driver you just want to make sure to stick with the heavier steel flywheels if it is a quattro. The lighter the flywheel the more rpms you will need to get it moving from a stop and also more gear rattle you will hear at idle. Even with the heavier single mass flywheels you still get a nice gain in throttle control and this is because your losing the dual mass part of the flywheel.

ok. I'm looking at UNI's 630cc BT file or maybe GIAC since my uncle will be able to tune cars with GIAC software sometime next year or would he be able to fine tune UNI's file with his GIAC software too? Also, interms of highway, would the gt2871r have an advantage since its supposed to have more top end power?

Supposed to have more peak power but there isn't all that big of a difference. Plus if your talking fwy peak power isn't going to mean much unless your going max MPH in 5th gear or taking the car to 7k in 4th.

Shoot me an email if your interested in the Uni tune. You will have to ship the ECU to Uni in Canada for the BT tune.

I'm probably going to get the gtrs since theres barely any difference in terms of performance plus theres a little less lag and spend the extra $100 towards something else. ill update this thread once i get everything ordered. thanks for the help.

when doing my reasearch i read bad things about revo's tune ex. timing sucks, maf size is too small, and just general problems. i'm not bashing revo as i have no experience with them but thats just what im seeing. revo's BT file or UNI's BT file?

Btw i have an 01 A4 tqm
