are you sure its not that brake guard? when i did my springs i must have bent it down a little cause first run i made it was scraping... all i had to do was bend it back away from the wheels again. problem solved no mroe grinding. idk if this is your problem but you could double check?

Good advice ObnoxiousDrunk. Extreme insobriety and automotive maintenance go together like ketchup and bananas.

A weekend is about the amount of time I'd expect just the control arm replacement to take. I figured the coilovers would take a lot longer due to the 5 whole pages of instructions listed on audidiy.com.

I've decided to buy the Vogtland GT2 coilovers, Achtuning front and rear sway bars, and Hartmann replica 18's with Falken ZE-912 tires all from Achtuning while they're still having their sale. Price for all this should run around $3200. Expensive I know, but worth it because I'll save hundreds by buying it now.

Don't really think the brake guard would make that kind of sound, but I'll check it anyway. Thanks for the tip.

If you haven't done the job before, the first side is going to take hours, you might even think you won't get it done in day. Stick with it and you'll get through it, the other side will be cake. As for the coilovers, why would the install be so involved? Aren't they shipped already assembled, all I would see being a problem is height adjustment, but you can always tackle that after everything is in.

I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. It's just that I've never worked on struts, springs, or sway bars before and the DIYs made it seem very lengthy.

As far as special tools this is what I have written down so far: Breaker bar, ball joint removal tool, torque wrench, and spring compressors. Can you think of anything else I might need? any special sockets or extensions that might make this job easier?
