Got a giac, and a question
Ok so i bought a chip, i got it on ebay for really cheap so if its the wrong one, i can probly resell it and get my money back, but anyway.... the chip i got says on it "CLGL02 V20"
will this work with my car?

If it's for an AEB engine, it should work. There might be a problem if you have tip and it's out of a manual though.
That # probably won't mean anything to anyone around here. Use the dealer locator link at giacusa.com see if they know anything. If it will work, your ecu will need socketed. That means youll either have to drive to or send your ecu to a giac dealer to have it soldered in.

do you think it could be done at home, my dad works on computers for a living, and has soldered much smaller chips than this before. or you think i should still send it out, i have a USB-Vagcom and all the software so i can set it up. and if i do need to drive to one, how much do you think it would be to get it installed, the closest dealer is like 45min to an hour away from me

Watch that video... There is a video of the soldering job that they did on my A4 when I had it. It's about half way through the video.

Probably worth the drive, and the $100 or so that they'll charge. You need more than just that chip. You need a socket solderded to your ECU that the chip sits in. I wouldn't consider it a DIY kinda thing.
