RE: Good priced borla exhaust?????
don't get borla. its a good system, but its only 2.25" and your stock exhaust is 2.17", doesn't make much sense to do that. get 2.5 - 3" system.

techtonics makes a good 2.5" exhaust, this setup also comes with a dp.

or just go custom. Do what i did and go with 2.5 pipeing to a magnaflow muffler that you can pick up at any pep boys for $65 and then get some bad *** tips. It all cost me under 110 bucks but that cause i did it my self but if you take it some were you can probobly get if for 350.

is there a way I could find out exactly which exhaust parts I would need to purchase if I wanted to build a custom exhaust? I understand the concept but I don't know what pipes I would need exactly

a shop does it for you. they take out your stock exhaust and make the same bends with some 2.5" piping. then you just pick out a muffler to go with it and voila, new exhaust. if you don't have emissions you can get the piping all the way up to the turbo, to have a full turbo back exhaust, or just to the cat if you have emissions.
or you can buy it from techtonics and they did all that stuff already for you. but it'll be more expensive depending on the shop

I don't think you will see anything much cheaper than that unless it's on the classifieds. The techtonics with the Borla muffler at $630 is about as low as it gets without a custom exhaust. I think. The full Borla exhaust is like $850 new (on their site); it looks nice though and I'm sure it's high quality.
