Default go into accident

I got into the other night. I messed up my front bumber hood and one front side panels. and some some other stuff. Though thats the least of my worries. At first i could put my car in reverse(manual) to try to get out. though when it tried again it wasn't engaging??? what does this mean the transmission is shot( ran over alot of logs)??? the tow guy sayed he cant get it go forward but not in reverse also. what do you guys think? maybe just the shift rod got bent?

Probably just the shift rod. I cant think of anything that would have broke in the trans from the accident that you describe that would have taken out just reverse.

One front and one rear? Thatd be normal. If you broke something in the driveshafts or differentials, the car wouldnt move forward or backward.

The damage that would have cause the underbody damage would be the log that i ran over. I must have been going around 20 when i hit the log.

you tend to hit the brake a bit when you see something in your path, that doesn't mean he was going twenty when he spotted it. you might half dislodged an half shaft, if ones is removed from contact with the hub the car wont move at all, but since you say you had two wheels moving it might not be that. Non the less its something to consider.

Did YOU try to put it in reverse, or just the tow guy? Some people really have problems with our push down reverse if they arent familiar with it.
