So I just got my chip yesterday, and since i bought it second hand GIAC wont even talk to me. BTW Theirphone number and address are very hard to find, it's not listed anywhere on the site, Im posting it here so if anyone needs it they can have it.
Phone: 949-724-0014
Address: 1350 Reynolds Ave. #105 & #106 Irvine, CA 92614
So anyways. They make a big deal about their "encryption" board, but its far from anything super sophisticated. There is a simple PLCC on the underside partially potted in an epoxy or something. They ground the etching off the chip but it appears to be a relatively simple circuit. I will figure out exactly what it is withina week. So far it appears just to be a translator or something.
I went ahead and wired the chip in and it seems to work well. SMD work is not fun. If I can figure this out I should be able to"Reflash" my own custom blend.
I will of course keep everyone up to date.

Heh... I work in the same business park as GIAC. My boss used to complain about them running up the dyno but since I started here we moved to the other side of the complex so I've never heard it. They have a few nice rides parked out front.
It seems like for the money they would have made somesort of kaptop flex circuit or something instead of havng to resort to the rats nest wiring. Nice work though, SMD solder skills FTW!

^ bingo. It sounds as if Oliver may still be honoring the $125 price if your an AF member, but even still, at $199 that's still a pretty decent deal for that chip. I truly like mine a lot.
