firstly theirs a search button and this is probably the 2nd or 3rd thread ive seen on MPGs but seems a bit low, stricly city driving i see about 21 average and highway i jump up to almost 35. and this is on teh old 12v motor with 160k. try the seafoam thing and replace vac lines.
you get 35 mpg with your 2.8 v6... i dont think so. a 1.8T at its best can barely get that on the highway.
On a relatively flat hwy I've seen close to 40mpg. Going up into the mountains it's at about 24-26. I wouldn't find it hard to believe that at 70-75mph the 2.8 would get 30+mpg.

nope its true i calculated it out. at 60mph cruise set i was at roughly 35 to the gallon, i had just filled up at the gas station exactly 1 mile from my garage and it came to 15.1XX gallonsi took a trip with a friendup to wisonson about a 130 miles each way, by the time i got home i was donw to a bit over half a tankand had done about 250ish miles on the trip odometer, i drove the car the rest of the week and when i went to fill up again, i filled up with 14.5 gallons and the trip odometer still not reset showed 420miles. which i not only the most ive ever gotten out of a tank but also the most time iver spent on a highway. the rest of the tank lasted me roughly 160-170 miles which is about right for only city driving for me during the summer.
