gas guage

Default gas guage

okay so i went to fayettville i had a 3/4 so i took a break after 2 hours of driving came back started it up and it was 1/4 a tank so i filled it up but why does the car gas guage doesnt work right is there a fix what fix is it how much blaw blaw blaw anyone else with the same issue?

Check the tech area of audiworld.com or www.audidiy.com - one of them has a writeup for fixing a broken wire on the sending unit and cleaning its contacts. 95% of the time a screwy gas gauge is fixed this way.

When it tells you to solder the wire, you can use splice connectors to put a jumper in to repair it - I did that and haven't had a problem since.

awasome man im excited it really bothers me its a big deal when u drove off with 3/4 than have nothing

yepp i figured i haft to replace the sending unit is that what you did or did u just clean it out?

Don't replace it. Pull it out and clean the terminals. Look for the thin wire that runs under the arm on the sender - it's obvious when you look. Most of us who had the problem have found that wire to be frayed or broken. Repair it and you should be in good shape.
