Unhappy Fuel Door/Trunk/Doors wont open

Ok people i need some brains because i am clearly not bright enough to figure this out on my own and... i searched the site and cannot find an answer.

I have an 97 1.8T FWD and about a week ago i realized that when i enable and disable my Clifford alarm the doors don't lock or unlock like they are supposed to.
As a result i totally forgot that that also meant that the fuel door and trunk wont open. I ran out of gas and didn't know how to manually open the fuel door as well as the trunk.

Can you please help me? I don't think it has to do with the fuses as i checked them all. But i hear something working in the area of the fuel door it just doesn't open/lock/unlock anything.

I need to find out how to open the trunk and fuel door ASAP. :-(

Thanks guys

you can't just click the unlock button on the door to unlock the gas/trunk?

do 97's have the ability to turn the drivers door key twice to unlock all doors? maybe try that

I'm not too sure about the 1997 but generally, I would say your vacuum for the central lock is out.

However, you said you have Clifford alarm system so I'm not particularly sure what it does.

1.) "you can't just click the unlock button on the door to unlock the gas/trunk? "
NO - that button doesnt work now... i hear a noise in the back something
struggling but nothing is happening
2.) "do 97's have the ability to turn the drivers door key twice to unlock all doors? maybe try that" - i tried this too it also didnt work
3.) "I'm not too sure about the 1997 but generally, I would say your vacuum for the central lock is out." - that was my original guess but does anyone know of a way to manually open the trunk and gas tank in the mean time while i look further into this...

i need to fill up gas :-(

if you got your manual it tells you in there how to open it. just take the carpet down on the gas filler side and take out the locking rod. it should be obvious when you get in there

I believe there should be a key hole so you can open the trunk and unlock it manually.
However, the gas lid doesn't have any manual opening/key whatsoever.

Did you check your battery? It's also possible that your battery is completely dead.

Fold down the seat and crawl in

^^^ Assuming the rear seat on his model is the foldable type.

@ cukilo: Doesn't your trunk open with the key?
There should be 3 positions:

1) Locked independently of central locking.
2) Locked and unlocked with central locking.
3) Turned to independent posintio (fully right) held there, then pushed in.

You need to get into the trunk, and on the passengers side underneath/behind the carpet there is a module box with small hoses coming into it. Unplug those hoses and suck on them and it will unlock the doors. (blowing on it will lock the door) The smaller hose is the one for the trunk and gas door. It sounds like the vacuum pump is broken, if this is the case you're best option is to get one from a junk yard. The dealer charges $500 for a new module, but I got just the pump from a junk yard for $4.
