Front License Plate Bracket

Front License Plate Bracket
Hey guys, I recently purchased a 1996 a4, but unfortunately it didn't come with a front license plate bracket (I need one to drive in my city, or else I'll get ticketed). The dealer wants to charge me $91 + tax for one so I'm looking for alternative means of obtaining one. I checked the auto yards around me, no one has one. Anybody have any ideas for me? Or does anyone have one lying around? Thanks.

Try emailing MPLSChase@gmail.com - they always have a few parts cars in the Classifieds here on AF, I'd bet they could sell you one for less than the stealership wants.

so a nice police officer decided to pull me over a few months ago for going 50mph in a 50mph zone. he says you dont have window tint stickers on each of your windows.
i said i have no idea what that is. apparently if your windows are tinted even a little in this state you need to go to the DMV and have them inspect the windows and put a big *** ugly sticker on each window certifying it is legal tint.
now my window tints were 40%, 35% is legal in connecticut, so they were not only legal but way more see thru then so many cars i drive past with limo tints and no damn tint stickers.
anyways i get to the dmv, they sign off on my warning ticket for the windows, then the guy writes me another warning ticket for no front licence plate. meaning i have to get it fixed and take time off from work and drive 45 minuits back to the DMV and wait in line for an hour for them to say ok you got it fixed, and they give you a generous 20 whole days to do it and get back there or your registration gets suspended.
so now im pissed. i tell the guy il be right back... i drive to the Ace hardware down the street and buy some way overpriced 48" zip ties ($8 for 6 zip ties?!) and zip tie my front plate to the bumper. drive back to the DMV, wait in the inspection line for another 45 minuits, hand the guy his ticket back. he just laughed made sure it wasnt going to fall off and signed it. i was not very happy. atleast he had a sense of humor.
just zip tie to the front bumper if you dont want to get hassled, theres no law saying it has to be held on by a plate holder, it just says that you have to have a front plate that wont fall off.
